Instructor Profile

Sifu Garry Seghers began his martial arts training as a teenager in London, achieving the grade of 2nd Degree black belt in Judo and becoming a part-time Instructor for the local Adult Education; on moving to Kent in the ‘80s he started training in Aikido and Karate, achieving the grade of 3rd Degree black belt and taught Judo, Aikido and Karate at local leisure centres; on moving to Cannock in 1997 he started and presently practices Lau Gar Kung Fu and has achieved his 3rd Degree black sash.

Garry started training in Yang Style Tai Chi in 2002 with John Russell 7th Degree Lau Gar Guardian. For the last three years he has visited and studied Tai Chi at the Huang Feihong Memorial Hall, Foshan, China under Master Lau. This year he has achieved the grade of 3rd Duan Wei from the Chinese Wushu Association.

 In Chen style Tai Chi Sifu Garry Seghers is taught and recognised as a level 3 Instructor by Master Liming Yue of the Tai Chi Centre Manchester (who is graded 7th Duan Wei). He has also studied Chen Style Tai Chi Quan Old Frame with Chen Zhenglei 19th Generation Chen Style Grandmaster, one of China’s top ten foremost Wushu masters.
